Sky Position
A large plasma prominence erupting from the solar limb, captured in hydrogen-alpha light at roughly 656nm. The Coronado Solarmax III double-stacked design narrows the H-alpha bandpass to approximately 0.5 angstroms, revealing the Sun's chromosphere in extraordinary detail — surface filaments, plage regions, and the turbulent boundaries of active regions. This image used lucky imaging: capturing thousands of short frames and stacking the sharpest ones to beat atmospheric seeing.
