Sky Position
The Orion Nebula (M42) is one of the brightest and most-studied nebulae in the sky, visible to the naked eye in the sword of Orion. This image combines hydrogen-alpha data for the emission structure with broadband LRGB for natural star color. The Trapezium cluster at the core drives the ionization of the surrounding gas, creating the dramatic rose-colored glow.
